What’s the best thing we can do for our adult children?

“The best thing we can do for our adult children is to get into recovery for ourselves and set them free to find their own way to recovery.”
The quote comes from Pia Mellody’s book Facing Codependence: What It Is, Where It Comes from, How It Sabotages Our Lives.

Letting go of someone we love can be the hardest step we will ever undertake during our lifetime. It means grieving the children they once were—or the relationships we once had—and focusing on our current lives. Not easy.

It’s important to focus on community, loving friendships, and support during such a time.

Do you have adult children you worry about?
